Whether you are convinced of Spike Lee’s notorious Oldboy remake or not, you cannot deny that the marketing campaign has been incredibly strong.
That marketing continues today with three new images (which finally give us a look at Sharlto Copley’s villain), but most interestingly, we get a collection of twenty posters. Each poster signifies an event from our recent history, an event poor Joe Doucett (Josh Brolin) would have not experienced while being imprisoned. The image gallery below contains the posters, and the new images.
Spike Lee directs the remake which is based on Park Chan-wook’s second film in his superb ‘Vengeance Trilogy’ (starting with Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and ending with Lady Vengeance). The cast includes Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson and Sharlto Copley.
Oldboy arrives in US cinemas 27th November, and in UK cinemas 6th December.
OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an elusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.
