It’s been announced today that Legendary Entertainment is keen to get Travis Fimmel (Vikings) on board as one of the four leads in their upcoming adaptation of the World of Warcraft game, entitled Warcraft.
No deals have been struck as of yet, but there are also a number of other rumours flying around as to who else will be cast in the film, with names like Colin Farrell and Paula Patton said to be in negotiations to star. Variety reports that Fimmel has beaten Paul Dano, Anton Yelchin, and Anson Mount to the role, so presumably they are no longer being considered.
Written by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond), plot details and characters are being kept firmly under wraps. The film has been described as “an epic adventure of world-colliding conflict.”
Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), Universal have said that Warcraft will be released on December 15th 2015.
Production on the adaptation is scheduled to begin in January.
