Universal Pictures announced earlier today that they plan to release their adaptation of the game, World of Warcraft, in time for Christmas 2015.
Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), Universal have said that Warcraft will be released on December 15th 2015. This is great news for fans unsure of this adaptation would ever get made. The movie adaptation has been in the works for some time, however Jones only signed on for directing duties in January. Sam Raimi was once attached to the project.
There are also a number of rumours flying around as to who will be cast in the film, with names like Colin Farrell and Paula Patton said to be in negotiations to star, and names including Paul Dano, Anton Yelchin,Travis Fimmel, and Anson Mount also being mentioned.
Production on the adaptation is scheduled to begin in January. Charles Leavitt wrote the script.
The date set by Universal could also prove rather tricky, as Ron Howard’s adaptation of Dan Brown’s Inferno is also due for release around this time, and there is also talk of Star Wars: Episode VII also taking the December 18th slot.
