Today Disney have confirmed the release date for the JJ Abrams directed Star Wars: Episode VII. The film will arrive in 3D on December 18th 2015. While many involved with the film have tried to get it pushed back to 2016 in order to make it, Disney are sticking to their guns and releasing the film in the year to destroy all other years in movie history, 2015.
Abrams brought in the help of Empire Strikes Back director Lawrence Kasdan to help write the script for Star Wars: Episode VII, and sadly had to let original writer Michael Arndt go. Abrams spoke of the change in writers at a press conference this week for his new series of Almost Human. Here is what Abrams said:
“Working with Michael was a wonderful experience and I couldn’t be a bigger fan of his or adore him more, He’s a wonderful guy and was incredibly helpful in the process. And working with Lawrence Kasdan, especially on a Star Wars movie, is unbeatable. It became clear that given the time frame and given the process and the way the thing was going that working with Larry, in this way, was going to get us where we need to be and when we needed to be. That doesn’t preclude working with Michael again in the future, at all. I couldn’t say enough good things about him. He’s one of the smartest guys, and one of the best writers around.”
