Jason Zada hired to direct Japan-set supernatural horror film The Forest

Lava Bear and producer David S. Goyer have hired Jason Zada to direct The Forest, the Japan-set supernatural horror film.

According to Deadline, this project has been known as the untitled David Goyer, as the scriptwriter, who has also written Man of Steel and The Dark Knight trilogy, was the one who came up with the story. Now rewritten by Sarah Cornwell, the film takes place in the Aokigahara forest of Japan.

Goyer and Lava Bear will produce.

This is the feature directorial debut for Zada, who has helmed inventive commercials, music videos and the interactive short films including Take This Lollipop, which got 7 million YouTube views when it surfaced in 2011. Check it out below.

Production on The Forest will begin next summer.
