Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-wook’s classic Oldboy arrives in US cinemas next Friday, and suddenly I am actually starting to to feel a little intrigued about seeing this. Today a new poster has been released, which again uses the hammer as its main point of call, and has the chilling warning “find the truth, and make it hurt” written on it.

Spike Lee  directs the remake which is based on Park Chan-wook’s second film in his superb ‘Vengeance Trilogy’ (starting with Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and ending with Lady Vengeance). The cast includes Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson and Sharlto Copley.

Oldboy arrives in US cinemas 27th November, and in UK cinemas 6th December.

Synopsis:

OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive.  When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an elusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
