‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’ preview screenings generate positive response

Paramount hosted thirteen preview screenings across various cities in the US, plus a further thirteen around the world for their upcoming horror, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. The screenings took place on Friday the 13th December.

Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central hosted two of these events, and according to both sites, the response to the sort of spin-off film was very positive. The fifth film in the franchise heads off into new territories, bringing in a much stronger religious aspect to the story, and this time finds victims “marked” and given special powers as they become possessed.

Bloody Disgusting noted:

Everyone I heard from seemed to really like The Marked Ones and it seems like other screenings had an equally enthusiastic reaction (our Chicago staff seemed to dig it was well). While I can’t review the film just yet, I can say that I had a blast with it. It’s easily neck-and-neck with PA3 for me and the general consensus out there seems to be that it’s a vast improvement over PA4.

Dread Central were even more enthusiastic, saying:

This is 110% franchise canon, and if you’re a fan of this series, this is the Paranormal Activity you’ve been dying to see. Questions are answered, the mythology is taken ten steps further, and when the witches show up, it’s for a hell of a lot more than just to say “BOO.” It’s that damned good. We’re talking balls to the wall fun and scares thrown at you relentlessly with an extreme amount of intensity! This flick delivers on all counts and is not to be missed. It’s nothing short of a gift to fans. The in-theatre reaction to the movie was off the charts insane. My ears are still ringing!

Impressive words indeed. The rest of us have less than a month to wait for the films release on January 1st.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES is written and directed by Christopher Landon and stars Andrew Jacobs, Jorge Diaz, Carlos Pratts and Gloria Sandovall

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
