Scott Derrickson’s (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) highly anticipated new horror, Beware the Night, took on a name change recently, and has become Deliver Us From Evil. Shortly before that, the films release date was bumped up to the Summer of 2014, suggesting big things from the new Derrickson’s film.
Now comes the very first look at the creepy film, which boasts an impressive cast, and is sure to be one of the biggest horror hits of 2014. Above and below you will find the first rather unsettling stills from Deliver Us From Evil.
Eric Bana (Chopper, Munich, Hulk, Hanna) leads the cast, which also includes Olivia Munn ( The Newsroom, Magic Mike), Edgar Ramirez (The Bourne Ultimatum, Zero Dark Thirty), Joel McHaleand Sean Harris.
Deliver us From Evil arrives in UK cinemas 22nd August 2014.
The story is set in a paranormal world and follows a New York police officer investigating real life demon possessions, exorcisms and werewolves after dark.
Bana plays an Irish Catholic cop working a case when he meets a renegade priest. Despite the cop’s beliefs, he’s convinced by the priest that there is a demonic element and together they work to solve the case and combat the paranormal forces working against them. Ramirez plays the priest. Munn plays the cop’s wife, who also has a tie to the case. Screen Gems is hoping this will blossom into a franchise.
Jerry Bruckheimer films are producing:
“Deliver Us From Evil is a project we’ve been developing for many years, confident that a story which combines the paranormal with a gritty New York City police story is both original and strongly appealing to audiences,” Bruckheimer said. “We’re excited to work with Culpepper and his team at Screen Gems, and director Scott Derrickson, who has emerged as a uniquely talented filmmaker with the ability to both entertain and terrify audiences in equal measure. We’re also thrilled to have Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, and Olivia Munn, three really fine actors whose strongly defined roles in Beware The Night will allow them to give full range to their skills.”
