Stunning featurette for ‘Gravity’ goes behind the scenes of the ideas, and superb special effects

Alfonso Cuaron’s breathtaking sci-fi thriller, Gravity, is topping many critics lists of best film of 2013, and rightly so. I can’t imagine there are many people on the planet who haven’t seen it, so the below featurette offers some insight into the big ideas, and the stunning special effects created for the film.

If you have not seen Gravity yet (shame on you!) then I must say again that the below featurette does contain spoilers, and is probably best only viewed by those who have seen it.

When the film arrives on DVD & Blu-ray, hopefully there will be plenty more featurettes like the one Warner Brothers have released below.

Written and directed by Alfonso Cuaron and co-written by Jonas Cuaron, Gravity stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, with Basher Savage, Eric Michels and Ed Harris providing the voices of the Space Station Captain and NASA.

Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
