TV: Drew Goddard confirmed to write and direct Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ series

Just under a month ago it was announced that Disney and Marvel were teaming up with Netflix, and the plan was to bring stand-alone TV series’ for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. It was said in the early stages that Drew Goddard, writer of Cloverfield, World War Z, Lost, Alias, Angel and Buffy, and director of The Cabin on the Woods, was top of the list to write and direct the Daredevil series. Now it has been confirmed.

Goddard will indeed both write and direct the first episode of the Daredevil series, and will then serve as producer and showrunner for the rest of the thirteen episode series.

In an interview with Collider earlier last year, he told them: “You’re talking to a guy who had quotes from Daredevil painted on his walls growing up.  When I was 18 I still had the blood-red door with the ‘I have shown him that a man without hope is a man without fear,’ that was what I love.  If we can find the right project, I’d love to do it.”

The plan with these new series is to release them in order: Daredevil will come first in 2015, followed by Jessica Jones, then Iron Fist and finally Luke Cage. Word is that once these series’ have all played, it will be followed up by a Marvel’s Defenders mini-series which will bring all the characters together. There are also possible plans for each character to have their own stand-alone movie.

Marvel have confirmed that Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in 2015.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
