First image released for boxing biopic, Hands of Stone, starring Robert De Niro


The first image has been released for Jonathan Jakubowicz’s boxing biopic, Hands of Stone. Check it out below.

The film stars Edgar Ramirez (Carlos) as Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran, who won 103 of 119 contests against such top-tier talent such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, Hector Camacho and Vinny Pazienza. 

The film also stars Ruben Blades, Ellen Barkin, and John Turturro.

Hands of Stone is due for release sometime in 2014.

Synopsis (Via IMDB):

Follows the life of Roberto Duran, who made his professional debut in 1968 as a 16-year-old and retired in 2002 at age 50. In June 1980, he defeated Sugar Ray Leonard to capture the WBC welterweight title but shocked the boxing world by returning to his corner in the November rematch, saying ‘no mas’ (no more).
