Someone will get punched in the face as a director may be found for ‘The Raid’ remake

I love Gareth Evans’ The Raid, in fact, I can’t get enough of it. It is a flawless, brutal, thrilling action film that truly raised the bar on how far action films can be pushed. The sequel is die in cinemas shortly, but those who have seen it as festivals are saying it is even better than the first film, and is one of the greatest action films ever made.

Why, oh why do we need a remake?

Sadly, the remake is 100% happening, and Sony Screen Gems actually bought the rights to the remake two years ago! With all the publicity the sequel is getting, they believe now is the time to get their remake off the ground and kicking into gear.

Variety reports that a director may have been found as Patrick Hughes is in final negotiations to direct. Hughes is no stranger to action films as he previously directed the critically acclaimed Red Hill, and is currently directing The Expendables 3.

The remake is set to follow the same story as The Raid, which for those who haven’t seen it (shame on you) goes like this:

An elite Indonesian S.W.A.T. team raids a building where a gangster and his thugs are embedded and chaos ensues.

It is not known if Hughes will adopt the same brutal fighting style as seen in Evans’ jawdropping film.

A later report today also says that both Liam and Chris Hemsworth are top of the list as likely candidates to star in the film.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
