Arnie talks Terminator: Genesis; filming due to commence in April; plot compared to Back to the Future II

With Arnie due to feature in the next instalment of the Terminator franchise, Terminator: Genesis, TheArnoldFans or TAF has an exclusive following a interview with the man himself.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that filming is due to commence in the middle or to the end of April and that it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. It will be mostly shot in New Orleans, with some of it in San Francisco and possibly LA.

This is what Arnie said when TAF asked him to give us a tease of what to expect and if his Terminator model would be the same: “The Terminator. You’re right. We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco and maybe a little of it in LA but most of it will be done in New Orleans. I’m really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn’t be in that movie but now I’m back again and they are very excited about having me in the film. And David Ellison, who has produced all the big movies lately, has plenty of money to do it well. He’s in partnership with Paramount Pictures who are going to release the movie through their distribution. I’m really looking forward to that and it’s going to come out on July 4th weekend in 2015. The movie preparation is going well. The script is fantastic so I’m really looking forward to this film.”

The script has been compared to Back to the Future: Part II, and according to Empire, “the new movie will intersect with Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”

Moviehole have also dug up some more dirt on the possible plot from “a reputable source” (??) who although they admit isn’t actually working on the film so you should probably take the following points with a pinch of salt. Empire have summarised the key elements:

  • According to the source, the Genesis story bears comparison to Back To The Future 2, which you’ll recall partly involves our heroes rushing ingeniously around and within the events of the first film.
  • In this case we’re talking about revisiting the original Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, but the film will also have a third time period in the future.
  • The punks, the other Sarah Connors, the cops and Sarah’s roommate Ginger will make reappearances from T1. From T2 we’re apparently looking at the scene where Todd and Jenelle fall foul of the T1000, amongst unspecified others. There will also be flashback scenes of the young Sarah and her parents.
  • The reason for the revisiting is something to do with an alternate timeline, again recalling Back To The Future 2, as well as the recent Abrams Star Treks.

More on this as its released….
