It’s been announced that Davo Okenivi has been cast in the role of Miles Dyson’s son in the upcoming Terminator: Genesis.
Terminator fans will recall Mike Dyson, played by Joe Morton, in Terminator 2: Judgement Day as the scientist responsible for the creation of the Cyberdyne Systems, which went on to start the war between machines and humans. Dyson sacrificed his life in the film, but we briefly saw Dyson’s son, Danny, when the Terminator, Sarah and John Connor turned up unannounced at the Dyson household. I’ll be interested to see what angle they’ll use to bring the son into Genesis.
Okenivi has more recently been seen in the Hunger Games as Thresh, but has also starred in The Spectacular Now, Runner Runner and most recently Universal’s Endless Love.
Terminator: Genesis will be directed by Alan Taylor. The cast so far includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Jason Clarke as John Connor and J.K. Simmons. Terminator: Genesis is being spearheaded by Skydance Productions’ David Ellison, who is teamed with Megan Ellison’s Annapurna in the effort. Paramount has signed on to distribute, and has set a July 1, 2015 release date. Annapurna purchased the rights for over $20 million and the expectation is that they will be able to make at least two films before certain copyrights revert back to the property’s creator, James Cameron. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the script.
