Takashi Miike’s ‘A Lesson of the Evil’ unleashes savage trailer, and UK distribution news!

Way way back in September 2012, the very first trailer was released for Takashi Miike’s violent new film, A Lesson of the Evil, and I have been waiting very impatiently to learn more.

Finally a brand new, and rather excellent, trailer has been released, and along with the trailer comes some UK distribution news!

The trailer for Japan’s busiest director is really quite special: blending jet black comedy with some insane Battle Royale style violence, mixed with some cool jazz music, the trailer screams quality and cult excellence. We also have Twitch to thank for the stunning trailer and distribution news.

Third Window Films have acquired UK rights to A Lesson of the Evil, and the film will be screened at the Edinburgh Dead By Dawn film festival, which runs from April 24th-27th. The aim is to play the film at other festivals before releasing it on DVD and Blu-ray later in the Summer this year.

Based on Yusuke Kishi’s 2010 novel of the same name:

LESSON OF THE EVIL centers on a teacher named Seiji Hasumi who’s loved by his students and respected by his peers. However, his outward charm masks his true nature. In reality, Hasumi is a psychopath who is unable to feel empathy for other human beings. Specifically, he has a severe antisocial personality disorder.

Because of his mental condition, Hasumi chooses to deal with problems like bullying and overbearing “monster parents” the easy way—by systematically murdering his students.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
