Casting updates for ‘Jurassic World’ and ‘Batman vs Superman’

Some quick casting updates here for you, and by some strange coincidence, most of them are female!

Jurassic World has added Katie McGrath (above), Judy Greer (below) and Lauren Lapkus to its cast. McGrath has been seen in TV series’ Merlin and Dracula, and Greer was most recently seen in the Carrie remake. Lapkus has recently been in TV series House of Lies and Orange is the New Black.

None of their character details have been revealed.

Colin Trevorrow directs and co-wrote Jurassic World with Derek Connolly based on an existing script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast is led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who are joined by youngsters Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer) and Ty Simpkins (Insidious). Vincent D’Onofrio and Irrfan Khan also star. BD Wong (Jurassic Park) is the only actor from the franchise to be making a return.

Jurassic World will arrive in cinemas June 12th 2015.

Batman vs Superman:

Also announced yesterday were that Holly Hunter (Saving Grace, Crash, The Piano), Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) and Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire) were to join the cast of Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman. Again their roles were not specified.

“Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses,” Synder said in a statement. “She has immense talent and is always captivating on screen. I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her.”

Snyder also spoke of casting Mulvey, who had his first taste of superhero films playing S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jack Rollins in Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

“I just had the good fortune to work with Callan on 300: Rise of an Empire and was very impressed with his incredible talent,” Snyder’s statement said.  “He’s a fantastic actor and I’m looking forward to having the chance to work with him again. And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress. I’m really excited to have her joining us on this adventure.”

Here is what we know so far about Zack Snyder’s new film:

The film, from director Zack Snyder, brings together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time—Superman and Batman—for the first time on the big screen. A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
