‘Chronicle 2’ finally gets a new screenwriter

Chronicle 2 has been in development for quite some time now, and the last update was well over a year ago when screenwriter Max Landis left the project. Things have been frustratingly quiet since, until today.

Fox has hired newbie screenwriter Jack Stanley to work on the script for the sequel, and hopefully get things moving forward. Stanley is unknown as he has no previous credits to his name, but he is currently working on the script for the female assassin/ high school graduation  script, Sweetheart.

After leaving the project last year, Landis took to Twitter to explain just how dark his intended sequel was going to go:

“Gone was the aspirational ‘what would you do,’ gone were the pranks and the bromance, gone were lovely tragic Andrew and hopeful, bright Steve,” he said. “In their place was a dark, frustratingly unblinking stare into a complicated world that posed the question is it worth it to be a hero, told from the point of view of a heartbroken and insane woman who would martyr herself to the cause of being the world’s first villain.”

Fox were unhappy with just how dark Landis wanted to take things, so it is unclear whether new writer Stanley will adjust Landis’ original idea, or start from scratch. Personally, I really like the idea Landis came up with.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
