The Last Witch Hunter is an action horror film that has been in the pipeline for years. Three years ago Vin Diesel was in talks to star in the film, and a year ago he took the role. A director was also found last year, and the man to helm the movie is Breck Eisner (The Crazies).
A year later a new screenwriter has been brought in to polish the script, and it is a hugely talented writer too. Dallas Buyers Club writer Melisa Wallack has just been hired to tidy up the script, and Variety also reports that Lakeshore Entertainment has come aboard the project to join Summit.
Lakeshore Entertainment has joined as a partner on the project and will co-finance and co-produce the film, with the company’s Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Eric Reid exec producing.
Diesel, who’s been attached since last year, stars as an immortal witch hunter partnering with a witch to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on humanity. Breck Eisner is directing.
Mark Canton is producing via his Mark Canton Productions banner along with Bernie Goldmann and Diesel via his One Race Entertainment banner. Adam Goldworm is an exec producer on the project, as is Samantha Vincent at One Race Productions
Erik Feig, Geoff Shaevitz and Matthew Janzen will oversee the project for the studio.
