More casting news coming out of Cannes thanks to Screen Daily, and here we have a horror comedy which blends David Cronenberg style body-horror with some dark humour. Chloe Sevigny (above,American Horror Story: Asylum), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory) and Anjelica Huston (The Addams Family) have all been cast in Bobby Miller’s feature film debut.
Per Screen Daily:
Johnny Galecki, Chloë Sevigny and Anjelica Huston will star in Bron Studios and Gilbert Films’ The Master Cleanse, a potent brew of dark humour and David Cronenberg-style body-horror.
XYZ Films shops international rights and is showing a pre-visualisation of the fantasy horror here, while WME Global arranged financing and represents North America.
The Master Cleanse centres on a heartbroken man who attends a spiritual retreat, only to discover that the course releases more than everyday toxins and traumatic experiences.
Production is set for early July in Vancouver. Bobby Miller, whose appropriately bizarre short film Tub screened in Sundance 2010, makes his feature directorial debut and additional casting will be announced in due course.
The film is being produced in association with XYZ Films, Creative Wealth Media Finance and MASTERSFX, the effects house that worked on Robocop and Elysium and will conjure creatures and effects for the production.
