A new Red Band trailer for Snowpiercer, the latest film from Joon-ho Bong director of The Host (the excellent monster film not the Stephanie Meyer alien romance), has appeared online.
Based on a French graphic novel, Snowpiercer sees a global warming experiment kill off most of life on earth. The last survivors live on a huge train, the eponymous Snowpiercer, that continuously travels powered by a perpetual motion engine. Inside a class system has emerged. The lower classes prepare for an uprising.
Starring Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell and John Hurt the film has already been released in some territories where it has garnered very good reviews. However, it has recently been under some controversy as the Weinstein Company, the films distributors in America and several other international territories, wanted to severely cut it down so it was a more action orientated cut, a plan that came under heavy criticism. It now appears that they are going to leave the film as it is.
I’m personally very much looking forward to this, the initial buzz has been very positive and I really enjoyed The Host and it looks to be an interesting and ambitious movie.
Snowpiercer has a U.S release date of June 27th 2014 but currently no U.K. release. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for it.
