Sony Pictures Releasing International (UK) are delighted to announce that the Sony Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer production 22 JUMP STREET has taken an astonishing £4.85 million this weekend in the UK and Ireland, overtaking Maleficent, Edge of Tomorrow and X-Men: Days of Future Past and catapulting it to #1 at the box office.
With its massive UK opening, 22 Jump St has proved a major hit with critics and cinema audiences alike, securing the highest opening weekend for a comedy in 2014, trebling the opening of 21 Jump St which opened to £1.56 million in 2012 and went on to gross over £10 million. 22 Jump Street will open on 13th June in the US.
After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the athletic team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.
