This Thursday 5th June 2014, Grimm Up North are continuing their John Carpenter Classics season by holding a screening of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK at The Dancehouse, Oxford Road, Manchester.

It is 1997 and Manhattan Island has been turned into a maximum security prison, due to the enormous rise in the crime rate. Drug-dealer Prospero (Isaac Hayes) and his cronies hold control of the entire area, making it the most inopportune spot for a plane carrying the US president to crashland. Eye-patched anti-hero Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) is entrusted with the task of rescuing his country’s leader.

Doors open at 7.30pm with the film starting at 8pm. Tickets cost £6.50 and are available to purchase online or on the door.

I love practical effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Tembo: The Badass Elephant, Yakuza Zero and Payday 2.
