Guillermo del Toro pulls out of directing live action ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Guillermo del Toro has been working on a live adaptation of Beauty and the Beast since 2012, and Emma Watson is set to star in the film. Del Toro has written the script, but it appears the scheduling conflicts have gotten in the way of him directing the film, as planned, for Warner Brothers.

Deadline reported the news, stating that del Toro will still be involved with the film, but only as a producer. Having written the script, del Toro is still passionate about the film, but sadly he cannot direct and so will produce alongside Denise DiNovi.

Emma Watson is still attached to star.

Warner Brothers are now searching for a new director.

Working on post-production for his haunted house horror Crimson Peak, it is unclear what del Toro’s next project will be. However, earlier this week he revealed that he was writing Pacific Rim 2, so there is a possibility that could be his next film.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
