Another rape and revenge horror feature is on the way, this time from writer/ director Matthew A. Brown and starring Ashley C. Williams (The Human Centipede). The film marks Brown’s debut full length trailer after making a number of short films.
I am sure fans of the genre won’t tire of seeing the same old story, but there is something incredibly worrying in the dialogue for this trailer. There is a moment where the victim claims “it was the best thing that ever happened to me”. Now, this could be taken out of context, and the clip may have her referring to something entirely different (I hope), but since she is the victim of a sickening attack and is now having her revenge, I really really hope she is not referring to the attack as something good? I can only assume she is talking about the therapy she receives afterwards.
Julia is written and directed by Matthew A. Brown, and the cast includes Ashley C. Williams, Tahyna Tozzi, Jack Noseworthy, Joel de la Fuente, Ryan Cooper, Cary Woodworth and Darren Lipari.
Synopsis:
A neon-noir revenge thriller centering on Julia Shames, who after suffering a brutal trauma, falls prey to an unorthodox form of therapy to restore herself.
