Rumour: Stand-alone Batman film possibly titled ‘The Batman’ coming in 2019?

Ben Affleck has signed on to play Batman in multiple films for Warner Brothers, and so far he will be starring in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, due for release on April 29th 2016, and he will also appear in Justice league which is rumoured for a May 2017 release.

However, Latino Review are now reporting that there will also be a stand-alone Batman movie, possibly coming in 2019, and naturally it will star Affleck. Their report also suggests that Affleck may also write and direct the film, and considering it took months for his agent to make the multiple movie deal with Warners, there could be something in that deal which gives Affleck more power to do as he pleases.

2019 may seem like a long way off, but considering Marvel are all planned out until 2028, in todays demanding world of superhero movies, you have to be thinking ahead, way ahead, all the time.

Recently it was rumoured that Warner Brothers and DC have the next few years planned out, but Batman was not on the list, so take these rumours with a pinch of salt, but Latino Review say that Zack Snyder’s now filming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice could be completed by December, and then after a holiday break, Justice League is expected to begin production later in 2015.

Affleck then leaves saving the world behind, and moves on to write, direct and star in his own movie, the period Gangster drama, Live By The Night. The film is set for release on October 16th 2016, which should give Warners plenty of time to develop the script for The Batman (rumoured title).

It makes sense that a stand-alone Batman film is in Warners and DC’s plans, and if the release schedule revealed a short while ago is legit, then a 2019 release for The Batman makes perfect sense. However, we will have to wait for an official announcement from Warners.

Filming is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the highly anticipated action adventure from director Zack Snyder, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as BruceWayne/Batman.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from “Man of Steel,” Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”is written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

Principal photography will take place on location at Michigan Motion Picture Studios and on location in and around Detroit, Michigan; Illinois; Africa; and the South Pacific.

Set to open worldwide on May 6, 2016, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, Batman characters created by Bob Kane, and Wonder Woman created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
