Sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D halted; sources say “project is likely dead”

The sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D has been halted, and won’t be starting up again anytime soon, according to Bloody Disgusting.

The sequel was Millennium Films and Lionsgate’s follow up to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Sources at Bloody Disgusting found out that “the project is surrounded by crickets, most likely because the rights to continue on with the franchise are so incredibly expensive.” The also said that “the project is likely dead”.

Still, we have faith that Leatherface and the Sawyer family will once again create havoc across screens everywhere.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D was released in cinemas in January 2013, and followed a young woman who travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter with a chainsaw-wielding killer is part of the reward (and her family). The film starred Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde and Scott Eastwood.
