Mark Neveldine, the director of Crank, Crank: High Voltage, Gamer and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, has confirmed through Twitter that his new film, a horror feature in the vein of The Blaire Witch Project and [Rec], title The Vatican Tapes, will be released in US cinemas on February 27th 2015.
This is slightly later than the originally planned 2014 release date, but if it means the director getting his first proper horror feature right, then I am all for it!
The Vatican Tapes is directed by Mark Neveldine, and is written by Chris Morgan and Christopher Borrelli. The cast includes Michael Pena, Djimon Hounsou, Dougray Scott, Cas Anvar, Peter Andersson, and Olivia Dudley.
THE VATICAN TAPES follows the haunting tale of 27-year-old Angela Holmes, who accidentally cuts her finger and ends up in the emergency room. Infection leads to erratic behavior, and she begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close, causing serious injury and death. Priests examine Holmes and believe she is possessed, but when The Vatican is called upon to exorcise the demon, the possession proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than they imagined.
