Excision director returns with ‘Suburban Gothic’, and here’s the very first trailer

Anyone who has seen the mighty troubled teen horror Excision will agree, it is one hell of a great horror feature that offers up all sorts of surprises and moments of insane madness. Sexy, twisted, dark, delicious and at times quite disturbing, Excision cemented directed Richard Bates Jr as a director to watch, and now he’s back!

His next feature, Suburban Gothic, will have its world premiere at the Fantasia film festival, which runs from July 17th to August 5th, and the very first trailer has now been released to generate interest (as if it needed any help!). You will find the pretty sweet trailer below, and it looks to be everything as good as Excision, only this time there seems to be a much stronger comedy angle, which isn’t a bad thing.

Suburban Gothic is directed and co-written by Richard Bates Jr, with Mark Bruner co-writing. The cast includes Matthew Gray Gubler, Kat Dennings, Ray Wise, Sally Kirkland, Jeffrey Combs and John Waters.

Raymond has a prestigious MBA, but he can’t find work. He can channel the paranormal, but chatting with a cute girl mystifies him. Kicked out of his big city apartment, Raymond returns home to his overbearing mother, ex-jock father, and beer-bellied classmates. But when a vengeful ghost terrorizes the small town, the city-boy recruits Becca, a badass local bartender, to solve the mystery of the spirit threatening everyone’s lives.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
