After numerous trailers, TV spots and featurettes, we now have the very first clip from Guardians of the Galaxy, and I would imagine part of the clip is very familiar by now if you’ve seen the trailers.
The clip see’s Peter Quill/ Star Lord (Chris Pratt) finding a large Orb, one of the six stones that Thanos needs for ultimate power, and it is thought the Orb is known as The Power Stone. Quill is interrupted by Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) and a battle of wits follows!
Guardians of the Galaxy is written and directed by James Gunn, and the cast includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, Peter Serafinowicz, and Benicio Del Toro.
The film will be released in UK cinemas July 31st.
From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
Marvel have also announced a number of upcoming release date slots, but sadly none of the dates have been filled yet.
Here are the slots which Marvel have now booked, and they go all the way up to 2019!
Marvel Untitled – 7/28/17 wide
Marvel Untitled – 11/3/17 wide
Marvel Untitled – 7/6/18 wide
Marvel Untitled – 11/2/18 wide
Marvel Untitled – 5/3/19 wide
Naturally one of these dates will be The Avengers 3, and with the Avengers normally released around May, it is likely that the May 3rd 2019 date will be The Avengers, closing off Phase Three.
Also somewhere in those dates will be Dr Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy will have a sequel in amongst those dates too. There is also talk of a Black Widow and Hawkeye stand-alone film too, but we will have to just speculate these films right now until Marvel confirm anything.
