Scott Derrickson’s horror feature, Sinister, was one of the finest horror films of 2012. A box office and critical success, a sequel was always expected, and earlier this year it was announced that Ciaran Foy (Citadel) would be taking the director’s chair.
Derrickson will still be involved as a producer, along with Jason Blum, and Derrickson also co-wrote the film with C. Robert Cargill (who also co-wrote the first film with Derrickson).
According to a report on the Chicago Tribune, Sinister 2 is gearing up to begin production and shoot entirely on location in Chicago. The shoot begins in August, and is expected to last for one month.
No plot details have yet been revealed, but a casting advert on Simon Casting on Facebook for the film requested “We’re looking for girls, ages 8-12, who speak Norwegian for a role in a horror feature film. … The project begins shooting in mid-August in Chicago.” Says the site, the Illinois Film Office’s Betsy Steinberg confirmed the ad is for Sinister 2.
More on this as it develops.
