Last week the US release date was finally confirmed for Eduardo Sanchez’ (The Blair Witch Project, Lovely Molly, VHS/2) new found footage Sasquatch horror, Exists. While I begged for a UK date to be confirmed, I also begged for a trailer, and it has finally arrived!
Delivering plenty of found footage cliches (that broken up footage continues to irritate the hell out of me), the trailer is impressive. Had Exists been in the hands of a lesser director, the trailer would probably have not excited me as much as it has knowing Sanchez is at the helm. There is some cool stuff in the trailer, and the Bigfoot sound design is awesome. I really hope this one delivers.
Lionsgate have confirmed that the film will be released in the US on VOD on October 3rd, followed by a limited theatrical run on October 24th. No dates have been confirmed for the UK yet.
Exists is a found footage horror directed by Eduardo Sanchez and written by Jamie Nash (Lovely Molly, Seventh Moon, Altered, S-VHS). The film stars Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn and Denise Williamson.
The film was shot on location just outside Austin, Texas at Spiderwood studios. Producers are Robin Cowie, Jane Fleming, Andy Jenkins, and Mark Ordesky with Gregg Hale and Reed Frerichs exec producing.
Back in June 2011, Sanchez had this to say:
“The film is the first in a trilogy exploring and reinventing the Bigfoot myth,” Sanchez said. “We all remember the terror of watching such classics as ‘The Legend of Boggy Creek,’ and I look forward to making Bigfoot scary again.“
