Horror TV spots: ‘Ouija’ and ‘As Above, So Below’ deliver short and effective scares

Two new extended TV spots have been released for upcoming horror features Ouija, and As Above, So Below. Both TV spots, which run for one minute, can be found below, along with all the details you need on the films themselves.

First up is the new TV spot for Ouija, and even though there is plenty of footage already seen, the shorter, frantic version of the official trailer is a highly effective treat for horror fans.

Ouija is written and directed by Stiles White, with Juliet Snowden co-writing.

Jason Blum and Michael Bay have produced Ouija, which arrives on October 31st 2014.

The cast includes Bianco Santos (“The Fosters”), Erin Moriarty (“Red Widow”), newcomer Ana Coto, Vivis Colombetti (Paranormal Activity 2), Olivia Cooke (“Bates Motel”), Douglas Smith, Daren Kagasoff, and Matthew Settle.

Official synopsis:

In OUIJA, a group of friends must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board. Stiles White directs the supernatural thriller that is produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (The Purge, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th) alongside Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity and Insidious series, The Purge), Bennett Schneir (Battleship) and Hasbro. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White wrote the script for OUIJA, and Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

As Above, So Below

A new TV spot has also been released for the found footage shocker As Above, So Below, and using some creepy and dramatic music along with some well chosen footage, this TV spot is also highly effective.

Written by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle (Quarantine, Devil) and directed by John Erick Dowdle, the psychological thriller is produced by Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Drew Dowdle and Patrick Aiello. Alex Hedlund serves as the executive producer.

The film stars Perdita Weeks (The Invisible Woman), Ben Feldman (Mad Men), and Edwin Hodge (The Purge).

As Above, So Below is due for release in the UK on 29th August.

Synopsis:

Miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls. When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead. A journey into madness and terror, As Above, So Below reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all.
