New Terminator film reveals baffling new title as ‘Terminator: Genisys’

If you are planning on messaging people about the new (and confirmed by Paramount) title of Terminator 5, might I suggest switching off predictive text. It is highly unlikely the word Genisys will pop up, and if you are emailing or writing anything else with spell check on, then expect to see those pesky red lines appearing every time you type the word.

Star Arnold Schwarzenegger was the first to confirm the title by revealing the below image on Instagram, and Paramount have also confirmed the title of Terminator 5 as Terminator: Genisys. It is a slight change from the earlier title of Terminator: Genesis, but the spelling of the word is a baffling one. Hopefully when concrete plot details emerge, the title change will make more sense.

The image Schwarzenegger posted to Instagram also confirms that shooting is complete on the new film, and now comes to lengthy post-production process. This makes the third major 2015 release wrapping shooting this week (Jurassic World and The Avengers: Age of Ultron have also completed).

The new title also comes with confirmation of the films newly setup Instagram account.

The new film is written by Laeta Kalogridis (AVATAR, SHUTTER ISLAND) and Patrick Lussier (DRIVE ANGRY). David Ellison and Dana Goldberg (WORLD WAR Z, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS) of Skydance Productions are producing. Executive producers are Skydance’s Paul Schwake (WORLD WAR Z, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS), Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison (AMERICAN HUSTLE, HER), Kalogridis, and Lussier.

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) is directing.

TERMINATOR: GENISYS stars Arnold Schwarzenegger (THE EXPENDABLES 1 & 2, TERMINATOR 1, 2 & 3), Jason Clarke (THE GREAT GATSBY, ZERO DARK THIRTY), Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), Jai Courtney (DIVERGENT, JACK REACHER), J.K. Simmons (MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN, UP IN THE AIR), Dayo Okeniyi (THE HUNGER GAMES, THE SPECTACULAR NOW), and Byung-Hun Lee (RED 2, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION).

The TERMINATOR franchise launched in 1984 with Schwarzenegger as the title character and spanned three subsequent films, which have earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Paramount will distribute the film worldwide on July 1, 2015.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
