‘Resident Evil 6’ shooting delayed until next summer, and here’s why

Resident Evil 6 was expected to go into production under the working title Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, later this year. Back in June writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson said he was working on the script, with production set to begin in the later part of the year, and the film was eyeing a summer 2015 cinema release, in 3D.

However, some sudden news has thrown a spanner in the works, yet before fans begin getting angry that the final film in the Resident Evil franchise has been delayed yet again (it was originally scheduled for release next month), the reason for the delay is a very good reason indeed.

Allow Milla Jovovich to explain , and here is what she put on Facebook :

Happy Monday everyone!

This was originally going to be a post to tell you how excited I am about flying to Cape Town, South Africa to begin working on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

But… My husband Paul and I just discovered that we are expecting another baby!!!

So after a lot of discussion, we thought it would be in everyone’s best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie. Between the stunt work and what will become my ever-expanding belly, we didn’t think pregnancy and zombie killing are the best combo! Lol! I imagine the only thing I’ll be killing in the near future is an endless supply of cupcakes. Yikes…

In all seriousness though, we want to make the best movie possible and that would be extremely difficult, to say the least, in my present condition.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on the movie in South Africa already and we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer. And when we arrive, it will hopefully be with the newest member of our little family! YAY!

Before I go, i want to also send one more HUGE thank you out to all my amazing fans who have been so patient waiting for the next installment of the RE franchise! YOU ROCK!

Thanks so much for understanding everyone! All the best! -m

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
