Playing as part of the BFI London Film Festival, director David Robert Mitchell’s It Follows has just revealed its first ever clip, and you can view it below courtesy of Bloody Disgusting.
The clip is nerve shredding, clever stuff, and plays out exactly how horror fans would want it to as it just keeps getting better. With a riveting score, and lead actress Maika Monroe looking confused and terrified, the clip easily shows off why the film was met with so much critical acclaim after screening at Cannes earlier this year.
The movie, directed by David Robert Mitchell (“The Myth of the American Sleepover”) from his own script, centres on a teenager plagued by disturbing visions and the inescapable sense that something is following her after a sexual encounter.
Financed by Animal Kingdom and Northern Lights, the film was produced by Rebecca Green, Laura D. Smith, Mitchell, David Kaplan and Erik Rommesmo. The cast includes Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Jake Weary, Olivia Luccardi (“Girls”) and Lili Sepe.
For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe, AT ANY PRICE, The Guest), the fall should be about school, boys, and weekends at the lake. Yet, after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. As the threat closes in, Jay and her friends must somehow escape the horrors that are only a few steps behind.
