The directors cut of Nymphomaniac, which looks like basically a high class, lengthy and very arty porn film, has been granted an October 6th release in a number of territories.

Screen Daily announced the news:

Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac Director’s Cut is set for release at upcoming festivals, theatrical screenings and events all over the world.

The local releases of the film will be accompanied by a simultaneous VOD release in a number of countries.

Nymphomaniac will be released on VOD on Oct 2 in the US, Canada, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia as well as in von Trier’s native Denmark with more territories to follow.

The cast includes Willem Dafoe, Jean-Marc Barr, Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, Connie Nielson, Jamie Bell, Udo Kier, Christian Slater,Caroline Goodall, Kate Ashfield, Saskia Reeves, Stacy Martin, Uma Thurman and Omar Shargawi. Von Trier regular Charlotte Gainsbourg will be playing the lead character of ‘nymphomaniac’ Joe as an adult, while model Stacy Martin will play the younger role of the character.

Nymphomaniac will be told over eight chapters by self-confessed nymphomaniac Joe. The film will be spread across two parts, and a “hardcore” version, and a softer more audience friendly version will be made available. The eight chapters for the film are as follows:

Chapter 1: The Complete Angler
Chapter Two: Jerome
Chapter 3: Mrs. H
Chapter 4: Delirium
Chapter 5: The Little Organ School

Chapter 7: The Mirror
Chapter 8: The Gun

NYMPHOMANIAC: PART ONE is the story of Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg), a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac who is discovered badly beaten in an alley by an older bachelor, Seligman (Stellan Skarsgård), who takes her into his home. As he tends to her wounds, she recounts the erotic story of her adolescence and young-adulthood (portrayed in flashback by Stacy Martin). PART ONE also stars Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Connie Nielsen and Udo Kier.

PART TWO picks up with the story of Joe’s adulthood, and stars Jamie Bell, Willem Dafoe, Mia Goth and Jean-Marc Barr in addition to Gainsbourg, Skarsgård, Martin and LaBeouf.

NYMPHOMANIAC: PART ONE and NYMPHOMANIAC: PART TWO mark Lars von Trier’s follow-up to his critically acclaimed film, MELANCHOLIA (released by Magnolia in 2011), and is his third consecutive collaboration with Charlotte Gainsbourg. A groundbreaking filmmaker for more than two decades, von Trier’s other films credits include ANTICHRIST, DOGVILLE, DANCER IN THE DARK, and BREAKING THE WAVES. NYMPHOMANIAC is produced by Louise Vesth for Zentropa Entertainments.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
