Director Ron Howard made one of the finest films of 2013 with Rush, and I am so excited to see such a talent turn his hand to the famous Moby Dick story.
Howard directs Chris Hemsworth in In the Heart of the Sea, the tale of three whaling boats caught under attack from the giant sperm whale Moby Dick. However, to add the the problems of said sea beast, the crew all face hunger, disease and even cannibalism. The first trailer has now arrived, and it is really epic and thankfully quite dark stuff. Enjoy!
In the Heart of the Sea is directed by Ron Howard, and has been written by Marshall Herskovitz, Rick Jaffa, Charles Leavitt, Peter Morgan and Amanda Silver. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Tom Holland, Brendon Gleeson, Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, and Jordi Molla.
The film arrives in UK cinemas 13th March 2015.
Synopsis:
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
