Below we have four rather chilling clips from two horror films released in time for Halloween. The Babadook has one utterly unnerving clip, while Ouija looks to scare you with three clips.
The Babadook clip is delightfully chilling, as Amelia (Essie Davis) looks for help from the police over the scary monster coming after her son.
The three Ouija clips are basic, cheap shock tactics, which work, and I especially like the flossing clip, which has already been seen in the trailer.
Icon Film Distribution will release the acclaimed hit horror THE BABADOOK in UK and Irish cinemas on 24 October.
Written and directed by Jennifer Kent, THE BABADOOK has terrified audiences since it premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The horror had its UK premiere at Film4 FrightFest on 23 August at Vue West End in London’s Leicester Square.
Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Essie Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her ‘out of control’ 6-year-old, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a sinister monster he believes is coming to kill them both.
When a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook’ turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control, and as he becomes more unpredictable and violent, Amelia is genuinely frightened by her son’s behaviour.
But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real.
Ouija is written and directed by Stiles White, with Juliet Snowden co-writing.
Jason Blum and Michael Bay have produced Ouija, which arrives on October 31st 2014.
The cast includes Bianco Santos (“The Fosters”), Erin Moriarty (“Red Widow”), newcomer Ana Coto, Vivis Colombetti (Paranormal Activity 2), Olivia Cooke (“Bates Motel”), Douglas Smith, Daren Kagasoff, and Matthew Settle.
In OUIJA, a group of friends must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board. Stiles White directs the supernatural thriller that is produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (The Purge, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th) alongside Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity and Insidious series, The Purge), Bennett Schneir (Battleship) and Hasbro. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White wrote the script for OUIJA, and Universal will distribute the film worldwide.
