Neill Blomkamp is the mastermind behind the stunning sci-fi District 9, and he followed that up with the equally thrilling Elysium, and now he is set to bring his latest sci-fi, Chappie, to the movie world.
The film is building quite a reputation, and it sounds like Blomkamp is set to deliver yet another classic film for the sci-fi genre.

Blomkamp will direct the film from a screenplay he has written with Terri Tatchell. He will also produce the film with Simon Kinberg. Production is expected to begin this fall.
Chappie tells the story of a robot imbued with artificial intelligence who is stolen by two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes. The film will star Sharlto Copley as the voice of Chappie, with Ninja and Yolandi Visser, voices of the South African Zef counter-culture movement and members of rap-rave duo Die Antwoord, as the two gangsters. The cast also includes Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Sigourney Weaver and Jose Pablo Cantillo
After being kidnapped by two criminals during birth, Chappie becomes the adopted son in a strange and dysfunctional family. Chappie is preternaturally gifted, one of a kind, a prodigy. He also happens to be a robot.
