‘[Rec] 4: Apocalypse’ acquired by Magnet for US distribution!

The fourth and final installment of the popular zombie series [Rec] has been acquired by Magnet for US distribution, and while no UK deals have yet been made, this is great news as Magnet tend to do a great job promoting their horror films (see the VHS series for proof), which means plenty of trailers and clips!

Variety confirmed the news:

Magnet Releasing has acquired US rights to “[REC] 4: Apocalypse,” the final entry in the Spanish horror franchise.

The film debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and was the opening entry last month at the Sitges Film Festival.

Jaume Balaguero, co-director of the first two films, returned for the climax of the series — one of the most profitable genre franchises in Europe.

Magnet will release the film day and date in US theaters, on iTunes and On Demand on Jan. 2.

Directed and co-created by Jaume Balaguero, [REC]4 Apocalypse will complete the franchise, with Manuela Velasco returning in the starring role.

Angela Vidal (Manuela Velasco), the young television reporter who entered the building with the fireman, manages to make it out alive. But what the soldiers don’t know is that she carries the seed of the strange infection. She is to be taken to a provisional quarantine facility, a high-security installation where she will have to stay in isolation for several days. An old oil tanker, miles off shore and surrounded by water on all sides, has been especially equipped for the quarantine.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
