I have always said that the fire extinguisher head smashing scene in Gaspar Noe’s superb yet shocking film, Irreversible, is one of the most vicious and violent scenes ever put to film. Many have tried, but never bettered the technically stunning achievement, but we just might have found a contender.

Director Dennis Widmyer’s Starry Eyes is said to be one of the years finest horror films, and the first clip has now been released, and a strong stomach is needed to survive this.

The clip features a violent head smashing involving a dumbbell, and I am sure you’ll agree that it makes for particularly unsettling viewing, check out the clip below.

Starry Eyes is written and directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, Alexandra Essoe, Amanda Fuller, Fabianne Therese, Noah Segan, Pat Healy and Shane Coffey star.

Synopsis:

Determined to make it as an actress in Hollywood, Sarah Walker (Alexandra Essoe) spends her days working a dead-end job, enduring petty friendships and going on countless casting calls in hopes of catching her big break. After a series of strange auditions, Sarah lands the leading role in a new film from a mysterious production company. But with this opportunity comes bizarre ramifications that will transform her both mentally and physically into something beautiful… and altogether terrifying. In this meta-tale of the extent one will go for their art, Essoe gives a complex, scary, deeply committed performance. From the producer of CHEAP THRILLS and JODOROWSKY’S DUNE, Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch’s STARRY EYES is an occult tale of ambition, possession, and the true cost of fame.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
