SyFy have released a new trailer for their upcoming TV adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s classic sci-fi, 12 Monkeys. As with the previous trailer, we are once again told that everyone is already dead, and I must say the new trailer looks impressive.
The show premieres at 9pm on January 16, 2015, and stars Aaron Stanford, Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, Barbara Sukowa, Noah Bean, Tom Noonan, Emily Hampshire, and Zeljko Ivanek.
The NBC-Universal owned series is an adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s masterful film of the same name, which starred Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt.
Kirk Acevedo will play Ramse, Cole’s (“Nikita’s” Aaron Stanford) closest friend in the apocalyptic future. He’s clever and fiercely loyal and helped Cole survive the destruction of civilization. While Cole travels through time, Ramse proves critical to the survival of the team that makes it possible.
Based on the classic hit film, 12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveller from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.
Production began last November with Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Terra Nova, Nikita), who wrote the pilot script, serving as Co-Executive Producers. Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International), will Executive Produce. Roven produced the original film.
Aaron Stanford (The Hills Have Eyes) and Amanda Schull (“One Tree Hill”) are the project’s two leads. Željko Ivanek (“Damages,” “Oz,” “24?) and Noah Bean also star. In key positions behind the camera are Natalie Chaidez (“In Plain Sight,” “V,” “Heroes”) as executive producer/showrunner and Jeffrey Reiner (“Helix,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Caprica”), who will direct the pilot and also serve as executive producer.
12 Monkeys, starring Aaron Stanford (Nikita, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2), Amanda Schull (Suits, Pretty Little Liars), Noah Bean (Nikita, Damages) and Kirk Acevedo (Fringe), follows the journey of a time traveler (Stanford) from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.
