A couple of days ago we shared with you news that the new Friday the 13th movie might take place in the 80’s, and will also feature a completely new story. That information came courtesy of an interview producer Brad Fuller had with Portuguese website The Omelete.
Now some further details have been translated from that interview, and some seriously interesting news has come about.
Fuller told the site:
“Sex, Drugs, always beautiful people dying, these things do not change. And we can develop more problematic relationship [Jason] with the mother,”
While the translation is not perfect, it does indicate that the new film will partly focus on Jason’s relationship with his Mother, Pamela Vorhees (above), and also hints at the pair sharing screen time together, which could make for some very exciting viewing. We could see Pamela on screen creating a monster out a Jason (a possible origin story perhaps), or she could appear haunting him yet again as he slaughters teenagers while we all cheer him on.
Either way, it sounds like there are some interesting ideas at play for this new Friday the 13th horror feature, and fingers crossed the new venture to Camp Crystal Lake can bury the memory of the 2009 reboot.
Fuller also revealed something which is part and parcel of the Friday the 13th series, but it’s nice to hear it said anyway:
“There is no PG-13 version in the world of Jason Vorhees,” they exclaimed, confirming they are aiming for that all important R-rating. Result!
