TV: Abigail Breslin and more join the cast of horror comedy series ‘Scream Queens’

Last month it was revealed that Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts would be leading the cast of Fox’s upcoming horror comedy series, Scream Queens. Now, during the networks press tour at the Television Critics Association (TCA), Fox has released details on who will be joining them.

Per Variety:

Fox has revealed the stars of “Scream Queens,” its new comedy-horror anthology series: “Glee” star Lea Michele, Joe Manganiello (“True Blood,” “Magic Mike XXL”), Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin (above, The Call, Haunter,“Little Miss Sunshine”) and Keke Palmer (“Akeela and the Bee,” “Masters of Sex”).

Emma Roberts (“American Horror Story: Freak Show,” Scream 4) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies) have been cast in leading roles in “SCREAM QUEENS,” a new comedy-horror series from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan, and Dante Di Loreto, the executive producers of “Glee” and “American Horror Story.”

The first installment in the new anthology series revolves around a college campus which is rocked by a series of murders. Fifteen one-hour episodes have been ordered, which are scheduled to begin production in the spring and premiere in fall 2015 on Fox.

Emma Roberts currently stars as “Maggie Esmeralda” in the FX drama anthology series “American Horror Story: Freak Show.” She also was part of the ensemble in “American Horror Story: Coven.” Roberts is familiar with horror audiences from her starring role in Scream 4, in which she portrayed “Jill,” shocking audiences when it was revealed that the sweet girl-next-door character turned out to be the killer.

Jamie Lee Curtis first captured the attention of moviegoers as “Laurie Strode” in John Carpenter’s seminal horror classic Halloween. Her impact as the film’s heroine led to starring roles in a series of horror classics, including The Fog, Prom Night, Terror Train, and Halloween II, earning her the well-deserved moniker of “Scream Queen.” Curtis expanded far beyond the horror genre with leading roles in such films as Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, and True Lies, for which she won a Golden Globe Award.

“SCREAM QUEENS” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association Ryan Murphy Television. The series is co-created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan. Murphy, Falchuk, Brennan, and Dante Di Loreto will serve as executive producers.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
