TV: ‘Broadchurch’ confirmed for a third series

The finale of series two of Broadchurch wrapped up nicely last night, but in case you missed it, I will not mention anything.

Those who did see it may recall the TV presenter announcing that a third series is on the way next year, and I can happily admit to being very very excited to see where the superb show heads next.

ITV has confirmed that its crime drama Broadchurch will return.

In a statement, ITV said that David Tennant and Olivia Colman would be reprising their roles as detectives Alex Hardy and Ellie Miller in the third season. Other cast details and filming dates are yet to be confirmed.

Series creator and writer Chris Chibnall will return, alongside show producers Kudos, part of the Endemol Shine Group, and Imaginary Friends Productions.

“Chris Chibnall knows exactly how to keep viewers guessing, and I’m delighted that he is going to take the story onto the next stage,” said ITV’s director of drama Steve November.

Added Chibnall: “We’ve been overwhelmed that nine million people every week have continued to join us on the twists and turns of Broadchurch. This third chapter has been a glint in my eye for a long time, and I’m thrilled to be writing these characters once again.”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
