I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

  1. The Book Of The Dead aka Necronomicon Ex-Mortis from The Evil Dead (original)
If it doesn’t freak you out then horror films are not for you

  2. It has to be the mannequins from the 1979 film Tourist Trap. They are so creepy and I’ll never watch that film again, completely freaked me out and I’ll never look at a mannequin in a shop the same way again! 😆

  3. The clown toy in Poltergeist scared me when it disappears off the chair then grabs the child from the bed, when i was a child my parents went out for the evening and my Mum won a similar clown at a charity raffle, she put it on the end of my bed for when I woke up and i was so scared when i woke to see this thing staring at me

  4. Lisa Everaert is spot on when it comes to the clown doll in Poltergeist, another scary doll is the ventriloquist dummy Fats in the film Magic with Anthony Hopkins, still freaks me out even now.

  5. A mirror! After seeing Candy Man, I literally ran past every mirror when it was night time and couldn’t look in them for months!

  6. A shower curtain. To this day I can’t shower unless it has a clear screen or is see through. Thanks to Psycho, IT, Friday 13th, let alone not being able to take a bath thanks to Freddie…

  7. It has to be the creepy clown doll from Poltergeist. Annabelle was literally the modern day version of that clown that scared me as a child. I can’t remember how old I was when I first watched Poltergeist, but I remember thinking the movie wasn’t that freaky up until that point. Between the clown and the man-eating tree, I was scarred for life. The worst part was that I actually had a clown doll (less creepy looking) in my room. I had to hide it in the wardrobe from then on.

  8. The Cube in Hellraiser because you knew as soon as the cube started changing you knew that there was going to be something horrific being done.

  9. Dolls always freak me out. Hate ’em! Annabelle scared the life out of me in the first Conjuring and I have no doubt that she will in the second one too

  10. The Chuckie Doll freaked me out. My daughter was given a talking doll that looked just liked Chuckie when she was a little girl and I couldn’t wait to get rid of it. She used to sit it on a rocking chair which was even more creepier.

  11. Ventriloquists dummies – they’re all weirdly alive and evil, aren’t they? They’ve freaked me out since I saw the film Magic, anyway.

  12. Michael Myers gave me nightmares for years but I remember the first thing to give me nightmares was the Wheelers from return to Oz!! They are super creepy!!!

  13. The Telephone in the first scream film, when I watched it for the first time I was petrified every time it rang! (Only the first time you watch it though)

  14. It would have to be the TV and the static noise from Poltergeist. I can never here that noise or see the TV like that without it giving me the creeps but thankfully we don’t get that static on TV anymore

  15. The wind up monkey toy in The Woman In Black freaky little thing, I remember my grandparents having one and when i stayed over it used to go off every now and then by itself so scary 👿

  16. The use of mirrors in most horror films freak me out. I have a bit of an irrational fear about mirrors, mainly the types of fears that they use in horror films. Someone standing behind you, someone else looking back at you etc. I love horror films. But if i see one that uses a mirror like that, It takes me a good few hours to trust a mirror again lol

  17. The Wallpaper in The Pact… Yes. Wallpaper. Really did freak me out a couple of times in that shadowed hallway x)

  18. The toy clown in Poltergeist freaked me out as a child. Not exactly sure why but I still don’t really like them even now.

  19. I think the lightening pole from the church steeple wasn’t supposed to do that. This is what happens when you watch The Omen as a kid.

  20. Black Hair!!!! I think it was the Ring, and her crookedly climbing out of the well, that was fine, it was her hair, eurgh! Oooh and when its in the plug-hole! Yuck and eurgh! I once found a long black hair in my Chinese food, and I thought Samara was going to climb out of my Beef chow mein…..Bleurgh!

  21. the giant fake lion head from samurai cop. what is it doing there? why does no-one seem to notice it? why is it so obviously fake? questions for the ages.

  22. The food processor in The Amityville Horror, because even though it was unplugged, it went off on its own just as the boy had put his hand in it … I’ve never trusted blenders ever since!

  23. I have a big fear of clowns. Even the balloons in IT was enough to creepy me out. Wherever them balloons are, he isn’t far away!

  24. I hate clowns or dolls, anything that can move by itself but its not supposed to! Think Childs Play has something to do with this!

  25. Any film that features dolls or dummies – so Anabelle will be joining Magic as a film that I love to hate to watch because it freaks me out. See also Dead of Night. I made the mistake of watching Dead Silence one night whilst my wife was out. Just as it got towards the ending (after several stiff drinks and practically nailing the cat indoors to keep me company), I was on the edge of my seat, freaked out by the old lady and the thousands of dummies….when my wife rang me. When that mobile phone went off, so did I – about 10ft upwards!! Jumped out of my skin. If I win Anabelle, you may be getting a dry-cleaning bill! 😉
