Hang on a minute: ‘Tron 3’ will shoot this year, with Joseph Kosinski returning to direct, and Garret Hedlund to star

The last we heard about a third Tron film was back in 2013 when Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski said a third film would be happening. Since then though, nothing, until now…

VanCityBuzz, a legitimate US news source, revealed today that the third Tron film will shoot this coming Autumn in Vancouver. The site states that Kosinski will return to direct, and so far Garrett Hedlund is the only returning cast member from Legacy.

In Tron: Legacy, Hedlund played Sam Flynn, the son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) who was the main character of the first film, and also appeared in the 2010 sequel.

I actually enjoyed Tron: Legacy, and while it was met with a mixed reception, it did OK business at the worldwide box office, making $400 million on a budget of $170 million. A third film will certainly be welcomed by me.

No other details are known, and there is no synopsis to share, but we can show you the Tweet from VanCityBuzz reporter Lindsay B who confirmed the news.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
