Oculus directors Somnia re-titled ‘Before I Wake’, US release date confirmed


Mike Flanagan is the director of the superb horror features, Oculus and Absentia, and his latest film, Somnia, has undergone a name change and revealed a US release date.

Now re-titled Before I Wake the film, which stars Kate Bosworth (above, Black Rock), Thomas Jane, Annabeth Gish, Jacob Tremblay and Dash Mihok, will be released in US cinemas on 8th May.

The film is produced by Trevor Macy, Sam Englebardt and William D. Johnson. Flanagan and his Oculus partner Jeff Howard wrote the screenplay. Mali Elfman and D. Scott Lumpkin are exec producers. Paradigm reps Intrepid with Reder & Feig, and they brokered this deal. APA reps Flanagan and Howard. Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales.

Before I Wake is described as a haunting, emotionally absorbing horror film about an orphaned child whose dreams — and nightmares — manifest physically as he sleeps. The film explores the enduring bonds between parent and child and is punctuated by sequences of intense, visceral terror that only a child’s imagination could conjure.
