Best known for their roles as Paddy Kirk and Marlon Dingle in Emmerdale, actors Dominic Brunt and Mark Charnock are also well known to their fans as horror and zombie film buffs with a soft side for the animals.

This is the eighth time that the scream-team will put on a festival in aid of animals. The Leeds Horror Film Festival will be a back-to-back movie marathon with all profits going to World Animal Protection.

Dominic Brunt said: “What better way to rise up against the monstrous acts of animal cruelty by taking a comfy seat for 12 hours for a horror movie marathon. Mark and I are big horror fans, but even bigger fans of the work of World Animal Protection, which is why we want to combine our passions to help animals in need whilst enjoying the best movie genre there is.”

Mark Charnock said: “After last year’s Zombie festival success we knew we had to follow up with another event and have seen there is an appetite for horror in Leeds and we aim to fulfil it. Whether you are an aficionado of the genre, or just fancy a different day (and night) out then come to one, or more of the screenings and know that you’ll be combatting the horror on screen by simultaneously raising money for animals around the world.”

I love practical effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Yakuza Zero and Mafia III.
