You can’t deny that Scott Derrickson’s Sinister was an incredibly unsettling horror experience, and now that the first trailer for Sinister 2 has arrived, its encouraging to see the spirit of the first film is alive and well in the sequel.
The first trailer comes with some creepy scenes, some unnerving music and a few brilliantly conceived jump scares which proves new director Ciaran Foy (Citadel) was a smart choice to take charge.
Sinister 2, the follow-up to the 2012 pic that grossed more than $87M worldwide on of a $3M budget, will arrive August 21, 2015. Citadel‘s Ciaran Foy will helm the next chapter, which Sinister director Scott Derrickson is writing with C. Robert Cargill.
The cast includes Shannyn Sossamon, James Ransone, Robert and Dartanian Sloan. Ransone will reprise his role as Deputy So-And-So (he was never named in the first film), so no doubt his return will give the sequel some depth in terms of the plot device as he will have already had some experience with Mr Boogie.
The new franchise follows Blumhouse’s success with the Paranormal Activity and Insidious series of ultra-low-budget genre hits. eOne financed the sequel, with Derrickson and Jason Blum producing.
